Scenemakers creativity was manifest in a lively and colorful event mounted for the Franklin Covey Company in 2000. Franklin Covey wanted to mount a tradeshow expo for 25 departments of it’s company. During the tradeshow, a goal to raise expo attendance and generate an increased amount of leads for each department was given to SceneMakers. A common goal was also, to raise the sophistication and interest level over expos from past years.
SceneMakers developed show with a unique theme, called Cirque de Berserk, in which colorful tradeshow booths in the form of striped circus tents which were placed in vendor villages throughout the 14,000 sq. ft exhibit hall. One main stage was placed in the center of the space with, two satellite stages placed among the vendor villages, which were used as circus rings on which lively acts of balancing, juggling, stilt walking, mime, worm dancing, unicycling were performed in rotating acts. Among the crowd of 2400 persons, roved character actors costumed in overscale, bizarre costumes, interacting with the guests. Buffets had enormous assemblages of stacked, colorful chairs, umbrellas, balls, etc. mounted in the center of the food displays. Brightly colored, surrealistic graphic panels were mounted throughout the space. Lively disco music accompanied the acts, while intelligent lighting effects were used on the actors, props and staging, also illuminating the guest pathways with patterns of strobing light. Department exhibitors reviews indicated that while everyone had a wonderful time at the event, the exhibitors garnered 3 times the leads that they had in previous years.
Another goal was to create a fun and energetic evening full of awe and wonder, where guests could network and conduct business, but have a good time. SceneMakers premise was that: “fun business is also good business." The client agreed.
