Thursday Color Theory { Wisteria Purple }

wisteria

Wisteria’s, to me, are so fantastically feminine and ethereal. I don’t know if it is the weeping, the delicate blooms, or just the soft purple color, but it’s one of my favorites. I believe using this as an inspiration for your wedding colors would inspire a calm and regal environment.

This is just a first glimpse into the start of my blooming MONSTER Wisteria Tree. I’m not kidding when I say it may be the oldest Wisteria in the downtown area. If Ilet it, it would probably take over my whole (small) yard! There are people who come visit me in the summer just to get a peek.

Wednesday Whimsy { Dutch Bike Decor }

dutch bike

Who wouldn’t want a dutch bike at their whimsically styled wedding! We had so much fun putting this prototype together yesterday to propose at an entrance, of what we believe, will will be an amazingly fun and festive backyard wedding. The beauty of the yard and the style of the wedding will be reminiscent of a Nantucket picnic extravaganza.

Friday Fête {ipad Brushes Movie}

I promise I will stop talking about my ipad next week, and get back to the business of weddings and events. But for now I have part 2 to share from my new Brushes app. As you can see from my post on Wednesday I did my first ipad finger painting (yes, I am aware that it’s not brilliant), and have figured out how to make a movie in Vimeo out of the process of sketching. I just thought it was fun, so enjoy!

Wednesday Whimsy { Finger Painting }

How did I ever live without an iPad! Since my new purchase two days ago, I have not spent a second without it. This may not be a masterpiece, but I thought I’d test out one of my apps called Brushes to see how well I could paint a flower using the touch of a finger. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of it soon – and let me know any tips you have on iPad finger painting.  ♥

Monday à la Mode {Floral Prototypes}

Brides planing weddings these days are very lucky in my book. Pinterest, Flickr, blogs, and Google image searches, have made finding floral styles and color palettes of what are imagining for your event, incredibly easy.

So what do brides do when they can’t find something similar to their vision in an already styled image? Even with all the social media at our finger tips, I have found that every season there are a few brides that can’t quite find an image or images that could help bridge their vision to their florist and event planners.

This is where prototypes come in. To be completely sure that on the day of your wedding you aren’t going to be unpleasantly surprised, I like to make up a small prototype of what I believe the client is expecting. It can be kept to a minimal extra charge and gives you much peace of mind. Even if I hit the nail on the head with the prototype, there are always advantages to seeing your vision in person. You may decide you don’t like the pointy-ness of some flowers, or the petals of other flowers ect… It is a great way fine-tune your look, and know what to expect when you pick-up your personals, or walk into your wedding ceremony and reception venue.

Below are a few pictures of a prototype we did last week. We were able to really hammer out some specific details, and now both the bride and us, feel confident that the final product will be perfect!
