The last party we were involved with, for decor and floral, at Escape for Good was designed around Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday. He is such an inspiring athlete, and person, which made it the perfect end to such an amazing retreat/fundraiser organized by Sportsmark’s Creative Director, Jen McMullen. Once the lighting and tables were all set for Vintners Night at Escape for Good, and the event began, there was such a beautiful atmosphere. I thought I’d share some more images of the completed look, as well as give a peak at some world class food from several Iron Chefs, headed by Chef Beau McMillan and some of the entertainment.

Today I continue on with detailing the part we played in the amazing Escape for Good weekend event that took place in February (at the Sanctuary in Scottsdale, Arizona). Yesterday I talked a bit about what Escape for Good was, and how it took us a full day of unpacking our truck and prepping shipped flowers for the next few days of parties.

Today I will move on to the first party, Vintners Night. This was an amazing party to do decor and floral for. We had tons of wine crates and vineyard decor, as well as a gigantic array of gorgeous flowers we had shipped in. It was like walking around and picking all the flower you wanted from a large flower shop – something every floral designer dreams of on an event site. Each floral was its own unique piece of art with no two looking identical. Of course we had a color palette and some key flowers, but you’ll see what I mean from the images below. Doug, Danny, Freddie, Debbie and myself had a blast putting these together. Meanwhile our Production Supervisor Nate was busy getting the inside of the tent put together with decor, drape, cauldrons…….

Anyone in event production is going to have horror stories and magical tales. This past February, Modern Events and Scenemakers had one of the later. We were so excited to work for Sportsmark on an event called ‘Escape for Good’, which was a weekend escape of events and parties at the beautiful Sanctuary in Scottsdale, Arizona. The point was to raise money with Athletes for Hope for a children’s charity.

This event was so inspiring to be a part of. Everyone from sponsors, to guests, to vendors had nothing but positive feedback. There were celebrity athletes, chefs, and philanthropers a plenty. The last evening was a big party in honor of Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday and motivational life, with many words and tales form friends and admirers.

I thought I’d take this week to blog about our part of this amazing adventure. Today’s images come from the floral processing and tent setup for the first evening’s party, called ‘Vintners Night’. We brought a huge truck of staging, pipe and drape, custom crafted cocktail bars and matching chef stations, cauldrons, vases…… as well as unpacked boxes and boxes of flowers to prep for production. It took a full day just to get ourselves unpacked and prepared.

Don’t forget to get you mom flowers this weekend! I just came from our floral wholesaler, and snapped a few images – as they were packed to the brim with beautiful flowers for all their mothers day orders.

Anthropologie’s online wedding store, BHLDN, has become a favorite of mine if I need ideas for a whimsical or DIY feeling event. They have great, medium priced, items – ranging from decor, to gifts, to wedding dress, and even engagement rings. It’s worth a look! I’ve picked a few of my favorites below.

I’m infatuated with garlands at the moment, as there is so much you can do with them to create a great focal point. Whether it’s for the bride and groom chairs, down the center of the head table, strung from the a ceremony arch, or above a doorway, it’s an eye catcher.

Over the past couple years, the beautiful Park City and Deer Valley have finally had a surge of luxury resorts settle in. The St.Regis in Deer Valley has quickly become a favorite of the Modern Companies (Scenemakers mother company). We have done several corporate events on their beautiful Astor Terrace, with stunning mountain resort views. I thought I’d share some images of events we have done, in partner with Rocky Mountain Connections.

One hint for you Salt Lake brides who may assume their pricing is outside of your budget, it may be worth a call. I’m on good authority that, especially during the off seasons, you could do a several hour reception for a very affordable price! (435-940-5700 ask to speak with the event department).

It’s so fun when you get to do something a little unique for a wedding. The images below are from a spring Cherry Blossom wedding that we just did at the Salt Lake Hardware Building. The bride was part Chinese, and really wanted to highlight some of her roots. In addition to the beautiful cherry blossoms, bamboo, and parasols, she walked down the aisle, in Chinese tradition, in a red dress. I wish a had a photo of that, as it was such a fun sight!
