Tuesday Très Beau {Tablescapes}

To continue our theme of beautiful winter tablescapes for January’s Tres Beau posts, I found a few photos of a wedding we did at Sundance that had a great rustic winter feel. Red and orange roses, orange calla lilies, red coxcomb, orange orchids, magnolia leaves, and moss. With the rustic wood chairs, copper color linens and votives for the candles, and twinkle lights around the perimeter decor, the tables took on a warming feel in contrast to the crisp resort air.

Wednesday Whimsy {New Years Eve Wedding}

One of my favorite wedding dates for the winter falls on New Year’s Eve. An event with whites, silver, gold, and glitter gives an air of festivity and glamour. What better way to bring in the New Year with all your loved ones.

In my hunt for great decor to match a New Year’s Eve event, I came across West Elm’s holiday decor, and fell in love. Above are a few things I would die to incorporate into a celebratory winter wedding.

Wednesday Whimsy {DIY Mercury Glass Wedding}

This week we had a few brides come in who were doing small intimate winter weddings at their home, or a relatives home. Although their budgets were too small to make sense in hiring wedding services, we were still able to inspire them out of their design humps. With a few tips these brides left with new hope and smiles on their faces.

I thought it would be a good idea to pass along some of the advice that seemed to resonate with these brides, in order to create a beautiful DIY ambience.

The idea is to dress up the room or rooms that will be used for entertaining. Most brides don’t want a Christmas themed wedding but know there is a lot of holiday decor that they or their family already own. This is where a lot of people get stumped.

  1. Put away the excess green, red and white decor, as well as your Santa’s, reindeer, and stockings.
  2. Mercury glass,candles, crystals and silver decor makes for a very elegant winter, holiday wedding theme.
  3. Simple white floral can be used in clear or mercury glass vases.
  4. Silver globes can be placed in tall glass vases or around candles and white rose petals.
  5. Not everyone will be able to find one, but a crystal chandalier or garland will add that extra sparkle.
  6. Keep it clean and simple with white table clothes.
  7. Spray paint branches white or silver to use for silver snowflake ornaments.
Pottery Barn has lovely mercury decor this holiday season. If you can afford it, some of the above pictures of their merchandise could make a big difference in the feel of your event.

Tuesday Très Beau {Holiday Windows – Bergdorf}

The whole year I look forward to getting a glimpse at the stunning holiday windows by the New York department stores. They are a great source of inspiration for all sorts of event themes – even weddings. The amount of talent, money and time spent on these windows produces some of the most talked about installations of the year. For the month of December I will be highlighting one of these ‘Très Beau’ displays every Tuesday.

I’ve decided to start with the always sophisticated and fashion conscious Bergdorf Goodman. This year their theme is “Carnival of the Animals”. Their inspiration is taken from diverse settings reimagined in various materials… and the animals that dwell there.

For a winter wedding, “Breaking the Ice” and “The Brass Menagerie” are beautiful examples of elegant and glamorous colors for a wedding.
